Since 2019, he has served as the Deputy Director General for the Future of Industry and Mobility within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Germany, demonstrating his commitment to shaping the future of these vital sectors.

Prior to this, from August 2016, Markus Heß held the role of Deputy Director General in the Industrial Policy Department, where he played a crucial role in shaping industrial policy.

His experience extends back to 2011-2016, when he served as the Head of Unit for EU-Internal Market within the EU-Department, showcasing his expertise in European market affairs.

From 2009 to 2011, he took on the role of Head of Brussels' Office for BMW Group, where he made significant contributions to the company's international presence.
